Q.
Does the ussg offer individual instructor
& skate school insurance?
A. Yes, whether you teach occasionally or commercially, Skate Instructors
Association offers the appropriate coverage.
Q.
How do I get certified for a Level One course?
A. Contact us for an up-to-date list of locations. Find one near
you and pay the appropriate fee. A manual will then be sent to you.
We are also working on videos to provide additional education for
those not able to meet with a local certified instructor. Your certification
is over a two day period. Your examiner will teach you the 'method'
of breaking down the skills of beginning skating. This includes
both learning the basics of teaching as well as how to break down
the skills of skating. They will also work with you to insure your
personal skating skills are technically correct. You will take a
written exam based on the written material, a skills exam and finally
the practical exam in teaching one skill.
Q.
Who and what do you certify?
A. Candidates must be over the age of 18. We currently provide certifications
for inline and roller skating. We are preparing documentation for
skate board and other types of skating, (not including ice).
