Level 1 Instructor Examination Program (IE) Curriculum Details

The two-day exam will consist of a written exam, teaching exam and skating skills test. The written is 20 multiple choice questions and 2 essay questions. The test topics are Class Management, Safety Procedures, Physiology and Kinesiology, Education, Teaching progressions and Marketing. Candidates need a minimum combined 80% score to pass.

The teaching exam is a demonstration of the teaching model as applied to a selected skill. The required skating skills are: Heel or Toe Stop, Basic Stride, A Frame Turn, Spin Stop, Cross overs, Parallel Turns, Backwards Skating, Forward to Backward/Backward to Forward Transitions (Mohawks), Swizzles, Scooters, and Toe Rolls.
