Instructor Examination Program (IE)

It's easy to start your own small business teaching skating so if you love to skate and want to share your love of skating, join the community of Skate IA Skate Instructors. Take our Level 1 Certification Program and become a qualified instructor.

The two-day program will consist of your examiner teaching you the basic teaching model, review of skills, awritten exam, a teaching exam and a skating skills test. Candidates need a minimum combined 80% score to pass. The teaching exam is a demonstration of the teaching model as applied to a selected skill. The required skating skills are: Heel or Toe Stop, Basic Stride, A Frame Turn, Spin Stop, Cross overs, Parallel Turns, Backwards Skating, Forward to Backward/Backward to Forward Transitions (Mohawks), Swizzles, Scooters, and Toe Rolls. Teaching is so rewarding and we can guarantee your own skating will improve during certification.
