ussg
e-newsletter First
Edition March/April2005 Dear
ussg
members, We
are happy to bring you the first ussg
bimonthly
e-newsletter. In this first issue we’d like to take the opportunity to
catch you up on what we’ve been up to. First
we are excited to announce that the ussg
now
offers an instructor examination program. The ussg found there to be
an
immediate need for an instructor training and testing program for persons
interested in becoming group skate instructors. There are skate schools
that need to qualify and insure their new trainees, individuals who would
like to teach this summer, and instructors who
need support in building their skate school businesses. The full
instructor exam (IE) is available for our 3 sports – inline, roller and
skateboard. There
is much potential for the growth of skate schools. Here are just a few
ideas on how this can work for you: 1)
By the end of the year, skate school owners will be able to have skate
board instructors teaching within their current
programs. 2)
Perhaps you have a friend who loves to skate board who gets ussg
certified
and then you run an inline/skateboard
3)
Stick to your current inline/roller program and qualify and insure
trainees before summer. The first ussg
instructor examination (IE) will
be on For
additional dates and information please visit http://www.unitedskateschools.org/ExamIEnew.html
. We
have a special instructor exam qualifier (IE-Q) for former IISA/ICP instructors which is available to ussg
members
at no additional charge. The IE-Q has been created to better the standard
for skate instruction, to help reduce the instructors' personal liability,
and to support all instructors in anew era of skate education. If you
would like to take the Instructor Exam –Qualifier (IE-Q), we will simply
email it to you and you can send it back. The
IE-Q can be completed entirely by mail and email. This option is available
through 2005. AfterDecember31, 2005, all instructors who have not
completed the IE-Q will be required to take the full IE. The IE-Q covers
the following topics: Class Management, Physiology and Kinesiology,
Education, Safety. Basically, the IE-Q is available as a tool to level the
field and give us an initial measurable standard. The
ussg is very committed to skate
education. Our strategic
advisors are
dedicated to providing skate education and skate school business support.
Our biggest opportunity to share our support will be in the fall at our
